So, Jiffy, How Do I Work with You and Pixorium?

“So, Jiffy, how do I work with you and Pixorium?”

Someone asked me that question recently. Someone I was sure knew the answer. Wow.

If he didn’t know, then I had explaining to do!

Dealing with photos, memorabilia, and family stories is often overwhelming. And it’s not something most people inherently know how to do. That’s why we’re here for you, ready to assist or to do!

Here are five typical examples of how we help people save and share their photos and stories:

I have boxes of photos in envelopes, albums, slide carousels, frames along with papers and other stuff. Can you help me?

Yes.

How?

It’s best to begin with a phone call, during which we’ll talk about what you have, what you want at the end of the process, and how we’d recommend getting there. If you agree, then we’ll schedule a visit (first hour is a complementary consultation), typically at the location of all those pesky boxes. After that, we’ll schedule further coaching (hourly rate) to help sort (or teach you to sort) your images, finding and organizing the ones worth keeping. Then we’ll scan those “keepers” (rate is per scan), giving you a digital copy to save and share.

My parents have a big anniversary coming up. I’d like to give them a photobook to celebrate. Can you help me?

Yes, if you’ve got at least two months before you plan to give the book.

How?

Again, it’s best to begin with a phone call during which we’ll talk about what material you have, what you envision for the book, and how we’d recommend getting there. If you agree, then we’ll schedule a visit (first hour is a complementary consultation) – phone or in person – to discuss in detail the story, the content you have, the content you need to create or find, the expected budget and schedule. If you agree, then I create a specific project estimate and production schedule. If you agree, then we’ll get started.

I just found some old photos. They’re ripped and water damaged. Can you help?

That depends.

Do you want the original photos digitized and then fixed?  Then, yes, we can help.

How?

We’ll scan the original photo and fix it in Photoshop. Begin by calling me and send me a picture of the photo/s. I’ll assess the extent of the work needed and provide a project price. If you agree, we’ll get arrange an appointment to receive the originals.

Do you just want the original photo fixed?  If so, then no, but we’ll refer you to local photo restorers. That said, I highly recommend scanning that original, so you have a copy of it.

I have a manuscript written for a book. Can you help me?

That depends – Will your book have both text and images? Then yes.

Is it created primarily for private distribution? Then yes.

How?

Again, we’ll begin with a call when we’ll talk about what material you have, what you envision for the book, and how we’d recommend getting there.
